Extended Term (EST) Communication to Partner

We need to ensure consistent and accurate messaging to partners regarding the Extended Service Term (EST) behaviour on the webstore.

A key point to clarify is that the webstore indication showing auto-renew as being “switched on” after it has been disabled is not an accurate representation of the subscription state.

Correct interpretation:
  • When auto-renew is disabled, the subscription is correctly moved into Extended Term in the backend (Partner Center)
  • The webstore does not yet support this functionality and therefore displays an incorrect status.
  • This should not be communicated as auto-renew being re-enabled
  •
Important guidance:
Please avoid describing this behaviour as:
  • Auto-renew being switched back on
  • A webstore glitch or defect

Instead, position it as a display limitation, where the webstore has not yet been updated to reflect Microsoft’s EST changes.
Partners should be guided to verify the actual status in Partner Center, which reflects the correct behaviour.
The webstore update is currently in final testing and will align the front-end messaging accordingly.
Let’s ensure we are aligned on this to avoid confusion and inconsistent communication.
